Field Service Engineer - Electrical (Marine & Power Plant)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Independently execute commissioning, repairs, and maintenance on electrical and electronic components including control systems, generators, switchgear and other power distribution equipment
  • Perform Electrical maintenance and/or trouble shooting
  • Perform Electrical pre-commissioning of ship and power plant installations 
  • Perform Electrical commissioning on power plants and ships, including shipyard drydocks and ports of call
  • Prepare Service reports and travel expenses in timely and professional manner
  • Identify failures, making adjustments, assist on trial runs and testing of Electrical installations
  • Check and adjust propulsion and power generation systems
  • Provide internal and external work reports according to customer standards and expectations
  • Perform site audits 
  • Collect and organize time and expense reports. Report and inform administrative personnel as required 
  • Perform Electrical maintenance in the workshop

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
  • B.S. Degree in Electrical or Engineering preferred but not required
  • Vocational training in electrical equipment (including high voltage) highly valued
  • Technical or Vocational School training in Electrical Systems 
  • U.S. Coast Guard or U.S. Navy Electrical experience
  • Power Plant Electrical Maintenance or Plant Commissioning
  • Experience with US and International Shipyard Electrical Standards and Maintenance Procedures
  • Knowledge of Class Society and Flag State Regulations
  • Shipboard Electrical Officer
  • Automation System Service Experience
  • Knowledge of MS Excel and Word 
  • Knowledge of Electrical Lockout Procedures and Applicable OSHA Regulations
Ability to travel extensively and for extended periods of time during shipyard or power plant maintenance periods or commissioning.

Must have the ability to work legally in the USA.  
Must have a valid US Passport and Driver's License.
Must be able to pass an extensive background check and pre-employment drug screen.
